Generally speaking, people don’t really talk about bowel habits. After all, let’s face it — discussing bowel movements doesn’t exactly make for the most pleasant of dinner conversations. Still, it is going to be to your benefit that you see this through because what you’re about to learn about your bowel habits is absolutely essential if you want to stand a chance of relieving and preventing hemorrhoids entirely.

As you probably well know, your diet affects your bowels greatly. Due to this, it is important that you eat a balanced meal that is high on fiber and avoid problems such as constipation. Also, you’ll want to make certain that you take in more than enough water, and avoid substances that risk dehydrating you and also leading to constipation in that way.

At the same time, you’ll also definitely want to avoid diarrhea that could further inflame bouts of hemorrhoids.

However here and now we’re not so concerned about your diet. With a balanced diet, you can achieve all that you want to achieve, and then some. But at the same time, it is vital that you start taking a look at some of your bowel habits themselves, because they can make all the difference when it comes to constipation and hemorrhoids.

One of the most important rules that you should always follow is this: Go to the restroom when you need to.

Mind you, this means that you should only go to the rest room when you feel like going — so that you won’t have to strain too much and by doing so risk hemorrhoids forming. By the same token though, it also means that you shouldn’t wait too long before going to the restroom. By ‘holding it in’ you’re going to be straining your muscled as well.

Basically, avoid straining completely, and just let things come naturally. Assuming you’re used to straining while on the toilet, this may take some getting used to — but it is worth your time and effort to do just that.

Another nasty habit that some people have is to sit on the toilet for long periods of time while they read the paper or something like that. If you’re sitting on the toilet for a long time, it probably means that you weren’t ready to go in the first place — and so you’ve probably been straining unconciously while you were there.

Cut out your newspaper-reading habit if you can, and you’ll find that it’ll help you acquire good bowel habits faster.

Once you’re done, be sure to wipe off using soft toilet tissue or even baby wipes. Don’t use harsh or rough toilet paper, as it could harm your nether areas and end up even contributing to hemorrhoids.

Make these good bowel habits your own, and you’ll have to worry a lot less about the issue of hemorrhoids!

One of the main area of hemorrhoid treatment that is often the toughest is actually getting rid of the ‘lumps’ that are hemorrhoids themselves. While there are many methods for doing so, few are really very effective, and the ones that are tend to consist mostly of surgical options that are costly and can come with risks of their own.

Basically, if you don’t want to go under the knife, then there really is only one option worth considering when it comes to ridding yourself of hemorrhoids, and that is to use astrigents.

Perhaps you’ve heard of astrigents before? They’re pretty commonly used nowadays — especially as a cure for acne! Basically, an astrigent is a sort of substance that will ’shrink’ body tissue when it is applied. In this situation, that is exactly the result we want, seeing as it should mean that you’ll be able to ’shrink’ the body tissue of your hemorrhoids!

One of the favorite types of astrigents to treat hemorrhoids would be that involving Alum crystals. Frankly speaking, it should not be too hard to acquire the ingredients that you need and create a solution out of them. After that, all that remains is to regularly apply that solution and let it work its magic and shrink your hemorrhoids.

Normally, a concentrated solution is created initially and stored. Then, it should be diluted close to when you intend to apply it. While mixing instructions for astrigents are easily available, you should be sure that you’re fully aware of what you need to do so that you don’t mess up and end up applying a concoction that is too strong, or too weak.

Incidentally, it is best to apply astrigents twice a day. By doing so, within a couple of days (i.e. 2 to 4 normally) you should be able to actually see the results in terms of your hemorrhoids shrinking noticeably. More importantly however, you should be able to feel the results long before that, as the entire area should feel a lot less sore, painful and irritated.

Right now, astrigents are one of the ‘better’ cures for hemorrhoids out there, and have been known to be amazingly effective. That being said however, sometimes astrigents will not be able to shrink certain types of hemorrhoids, and when that happens you can either choose to try a different type of astrigent, or pursue a different method entirely.

Whichever choice you make, be sure that you’re certain that astrigents really aren’t working for you, and it is not just a case of you mixing up the formula, or mis-applying it somehow.

Be very careful about what you’re doing when it comes to astrigents, as even a small hiccup can ruin the effects!

If you suffer from chronic hemorrhoids, you’ve probably had your fill of hearing about conventional treatment. That is, for the most part, completely understandable seeing as few types of conventional treatments can do much for those with severe cases of hemorrhoids. In fact, due to the fact that these treatments focus on symptoms rather than curing the problem, the most that they can do is provide a bit of relief and a slight reprieve here and there…

That being said — at times, a little bit of relief and a slight reprieve is something to be thankful for.

Among those who suffer from chronic and severe hemorrhoids, the worse cases all share one thing in common: The hemorrhoids that they suffer from are actually debilitating in terms of pain and discomfort. Some are even unable to lead normal lifestyles because the symptoms are just way too bad for them to manage. In cases such as these, don’t you think that even the slightest bit of relief would be a godsend?

Due to that, it would be wise not to dismiss the conventional symptomatic treatment all at once. After all, you never know when you might need that pain relief or just something to tide you over… even if only slightly. Truthfully, symptomatic treatment options are a lot more diverse than you might imagine, and here are the various forms that they come in:

1. Topical Treatments

Generally speaking topical treatments can come in three main varieties, these being gels, creams, and ointments. As far as hemorrhoid treatments go, the latter two are more popular, and they mostly focus on either reducing irritation and inflammation, or to protect and prevent further irritation and injury. Some even do both. Be sure that you know exactly what type of topical treatment you need, and then find one to cater to your symptoms.

2. Suppositories

A word of warning: Suppositories, if used constantly over time, can cause damage. That being said, occasional use of suppositories for some quick pain relief and lubrication can help you a lot. Mainly they’re used so that you can go to the toilet without having to suffer immensely to do so. Different varities have different affects, and it would be best to ask a medical professional to recommend a specific type of suppository for you to use.

3. Numbing Agents

Some treatments actually take the form of numbing agents, that work somewhat like a local anaesthetic would and actually numbs the entire area in question so that you don’t feel too much pain. Normally, this is only taken if the pain is really, really bad.

Based on what you now know, you should see that there are a number of conventional treatment options that may help you immensely. Be sure to take advantage of them!

Have you ever had a really bad bout of hemorrhoids and been unable to get anything done? Some people find that their hemorrhoids can at times get so bad that even making a trip to the doctors is a real challenge. Needless to say, at times like these you’d probably do practically anything to get your hands on some quick relief, and right here and now you’re going to learn the easiest and fastest way to do just that!

Basically, this will work wonders for anyone who suffers from severe hemorrhoids and has trouble sitting and walking around. That means that the inflammation and pain are probably both so severe that you’re literally unable to function. Sure, if you have some form of pain relief now would be the right time to use it — but what if you don’t? Or worse: What if the pain relief that you have isn’t really all the effective?

Fortunately, there is a way to get some very quick, and very easy relief: Ice.

Considering how readily available ice is, you could probably just walk over to your freezer right now and get some. If not, most grocery stores sell bags of chipped ice which is exactly what you need. Even if you do have your own ice, you’re going to have to chip it down to size yourself, so simply do whichever suits you best.

All that you need to do is take some chipped ice, and apply it on the area in question. Mind you, you’re not trying to freeze yourself — all that you want is for the cold to numb the area slightly, while at the same time soothing the inflammation and helping it subside. Provided you don’t overuse it (i.e. keeping yourself frozen), this procedure really doesn’t have any notable side effects, and some people perform it once in the morning, and then as needed throughout the day.

Granted, it isn’t a permanent cure, but it will at least tide you over for a little while.

If you need to, you can even insert the ice chips to get to the affected area. Be careful when you do though — some ice chips can have sharp edges and the last thing you want to do is injure yourself further!

Once you’ve applied the ice, you should be able to feel the results fairly quickly. Within minutes, your hemorrhoids should feel a lot less inflamed, and the pain should be fairly numbed as well. All in all, you should be able to at least get some things done without having to do so through all that discomfiture.

Did you ever think that hemorrhoid relief could be this easy?

Find Out Exactly When You Should Take Your Hemorrhoids to a Doctor

Despite the fact that many people advocate treating hemorrhoids from home through the use of various common and simple remedies, the truth is that there are times when it would be wise to visit a doctor instead. Knowing exactly when it is time to do so is important though and that is something that few people realize. In fact, many end up finding out that they have other problems as a result of not seeing a doctor when they should have.

As a rule, seeing a doctor is never a bad idea. Even if your symptoms aren’t serious, and even if you have no pain whatsoever, it still wouldn’t hurt to just head over to a doctor in order to confirm it and get some advice. If you follow this advice, you’ll find that you needn’t worry too much about exactly when you need to take your hemorrhoids to a doctor!

Of course very few people really do this, and most will want to avoid an unnecessary trip to the doctors if it isn’t anything serious. Due to this, it is important that you recognize a few early warning signs that might be letting you know that what you have is a little more than just hemorrhoids, and should definitely warrant a trip to the doctor.

First and foremost, if you find that your stools aren’t a light red twinge (from bleeding) but instead are extremely dark and close to black — that should be a sign that it isn’t hemorrhoids that you have. In almost all cases, hemorrhoids will color your schools a light red, and nothing else. Similarly, if your rectal bleeding seems to persist even at other times, it might be worth checking up on.

A number of other signs to look out for include things like: Bumps appearing around the colon area, fever coupled with bloodied stools, and external swelling that does not seem to go down ever after a week or more.

In a nutshell, the reason why you’re looking out for all of these is simple: Hemorrhoids shares symptoms with other conditions and the worst of which would probably be colon cancer. Colon cancer itself is extremely widespread among older adults, and so in many situations you’ll find that they mistake it for hemorrhoids instead.

Now that you’re fully aware of when you should take your hemorrhoids to a doctor, you shouldn’t find it hard to get the treatment that you may need.

At the end of the day, it is better to be safe than sorry, right?

As you may already have been aware — hemorrhoids come in various shapes and sizes, and how severe they are also can vary greatly from case to case. Due to this, there is a way to differentiate between the different degrees of hemorrhoids. By knowing and understanding how mild or severe hemorrhoids can be, you’ll be able to appreciate just how much of a difference there is!

Before we jump into that, there are a few things that you need to be aware of though. Firstly, the various ‘degrees’ of hemorrhoids only apply to internal hemorrhoids (i.e. those that have formed inside the rectum). External hemorrhoids (as yet) don’t really have a formal system to measure how severe they are, and the difference should be quite clear.

More importantly however, there is one term that you need to know about, and that is ‘prolapsed hemorrhoids’.

If you’ve heard of this before, great, but if you haven’t then you should know that prolapsed hemorrhoids are basically just internal hemorrhoids that have grown and been pushed outside the anus itself. Due to this, they look like growths extending from the anus itself, and they can bleed and be extremely painful at times.

Anyway, now that we’ve covered that, here are the four degrees of internal hemorrhoids:

1. Grade 1

As far as hemorrhoids go, these are the mildest and consist of hemorrhoids that do not prolapse. That means that they remain as internal hemorrhoids but may still bleed when irritated. Generally speaking, the bulk of hemorrhoids are within this grade, and some may even pass completely unnoticed by those who suffer from it.

2. Grade 2

In contrast to Grade 1, Grade 2 hemorrhoids do prolapse, but then they reduce in size fairly quickly afterwards. So while you might have a prolapsed hemorrhoid for a while, it is going to shrink and reduce in size until it practically isn’t there at all.

3. Grade 3

Next in line would be the variety of hemorrhoids that do prolapse, but don’t reduce immediately. In fact, they need to be ‘manually’ reduced, through various procedures, treatments, and other things. All said and done, this is certainly pesky as it will require you to tackle the hemorrhoid as soon as possible.

4. Grade 4

Last, but certainly not least, is the most severe variety of hemorrhoid — and this is of the kind that cannot be manually reduced. Unfortunately, this leaves you with few options, and it is definitely tedious… to say the least.

Do you see how the different degrees of hemorrhoids can differ greatly? Being aware of the various types of hemorrhoids that are out there, and improving your understanding in general will definitely be of help to you as you fight your own hemorrhoids!

Going through a bout of hemorrhiods can be a trying experience. Unfortunately, that experience is often made far worse due to some of the things that we unknowingly do that could contribute to the hemorrhoids worsening. Naturally, this is something that you’ll probably want to avoid stringently, so be sure to pay close attention and learn what you absolutely should not do when you have hemorrhoids.

1. Don’t Scratch

Granted, this is easier said than done, and hemorrhoids can really get to be unbearably itchy, but despite all that — scratching is still completely out of the question. Essentially when you do scratch you run the risk of further inflamming your hemorrhoids, or worse: Injuring yourself too. Try to refrain from scratching completely, and maybe even take some symptom based treatment to reduce the itch that you’re facing.

2. Don’t Lift Heavy Objects

Most people don’t realize this, but lifting heavy objects automatically puts more strain on your tail end, and therefore can affect your delicate condition. While you’re having a bout of hemorrhoids you should really completely swear off lifting anything heavy, and in fact should probably stay away from exercise that is too strenuous altogether. Some mild workouts are fine, and even advisable, but don’t push yourself too far.

3. Don’t Eat Spicy Food

Spicy food is sometimes just as spicy coming out as it was going in. That makes it a definite ‘no’ while you’re having hemorrhoids as the spices could actually further inflame your condition. Also, they’re certainly not going to help your digestive system very much at all.

4. Don’t Sit on Hard Surfaces

Needless to say, sitting on hard surfaces while your bottom is inflamed and painful is just a bad idea. Some people buy specialized hemorrhoid pillows (i.e. donut pillows) that will help them to sit down without actually exposing their inflamed areas to the hard seat itself. Even though this seems like a small step, it could help you to just be able to sit down and relax every now and then.

5. Do Not Take Caffeine and Alchool

All said and done, these are two substances that will dehydrate you, thus causing even more inflammation, pain, and so on. Keep yourself hydrated and steer clear of both — you’d be amazed how much cutting these two out of your life could help you.

Now that you know exactly what you shouldn’t be doing, be sure to not do these things and you’ll find that your hemorrhoids are a lot more manageable as a result!

As is well known, hemorrhoids can be an extremely painful condition that causes a lot of other issues too — including things like low self esteem due to its unseemly appearance. That being said, prevention is certainly better than having to search around for a cure… but in order to prevent hemorrhoids you first need to understand what exactly causes it, so that you can deal with it best.

For starters, hemorrhoids is essentially a swelling of the anus or rectum — so it is only logical to realize that it is caused by problems that center around those two areas as well. Although that could be any problem at all, primarily the type of things that tend to cause hemorrhoids are simply activities that put a strain on them.

Due to this, the number one cause of hemorrhoids is (rather unsurprisingly) sitting down for long hours on end. Unfortunately, this is something that is increasingly common in the modern world, where most of us slave away at 9 to 5 jobs which require us to remain seated for the better part of the time that we’re at work. Because it is such a common thing, most people don’t even pause to think twice about it — but the truth is: It could cause you to get hemorrhoids.

Similarly, actually ’straining’ when you’re on the toilet is another big cause of hemorrhoids. While it is only normal to strain every now and then, if you do so over a prolonged period you’re going to be increasing the pressure on your rectum and anal walls, which could irritate and infflame them. For people who suffer from periodic constipation, this is a very big risk indeed!

One of the other factors that has been found to play a role in developing hemorrhoids is hypertension. Without getting too technical, it should suffice to say that there are connections between the effects of hypertension and the veins on the rectum wall. These connections could possibly cause them to become explained.

Naturally, there are a whole other bunch of factors at work to contribute to hemorrhoids to. Obesity, for one, will generally increase the pressure in all your veins, and is further compounded by poor muscular tone and posture that can lead to even more problems.

All said and done, you should now have a pretty firm grip on the exact factors that lie behind hemorrhoids. As you can see, there are some causes that can be avoided, and tackled… and doing so will certainly be a good idea if you want to dodge this problem entirely. Still, there are a lot of other causes that are not yet fully documented, and so there is a small risk that you will find yourself getting hemorrhoids regardless.

Although hemorrhoids aren’t exactly a ‘mysterious’ condition by any stretch of imagination, the truth is that people often misdiagnose themselves with the condition. All in all, it seems to be a tendency to assume that you have hemorrhoids the minute any blood is seen in the vicinity of the anal cavity. Needless to say, this isn’t the best way to self-diagnose, and the truth is that there are many other conditions that share common symptoms with hemorrhoids.

After all — what are the symptoms of hemorrhoids? Naturally, as you probably well know, the bleeding is one symptom that is well documented, and so there’s no need to go into that. Apart from that however, hemorrhoid symptoms include pain, discomfort, itching, and so on — all of which are not exactly ‘distinct’ in their own right either.

Matter of fact, the only real distinct symptom of hemorrhoids would be that it sometimes tends to portrude. Even so, this only occurs in some cases, and so it isn’t a foolproof method of identifying and differentiating hemorrhoids from other similar conditions.

Some of the other conditions that share these types of symptoms include anal fissures and fistulae, abscesses and melanoma. All of them can cause symptoms that make them tough to tell apart — and seeing as you’re probably not a trained medical professional, it may even be impossible for you to do so from your own home.

Due to this, it is ever so important that you actually seek out medical advice if you suspect yourself of having hemorrhoids. Granted, it may not even be very painful, but on the off chance that it is some other condition (and maybe even something more serious!) it would be best to find out for certain instead of attempting to simply self-diagnose.

Once you have confirmed that you have hemorrhoids, then you can start to think about maybe undergoing treatment. In many cases, hemorrhoids actually vanish within a few days at most — so you might not even have to resort to going through any treatment at all.

End of the day, now that you’re aware that just because there is blood it doesn’t mean it is hemorrhoids, you should be able to see quite clearly that self-diagnosis probably isn’t the best way to go. Get a professional opinion and find out for sure what’s going on — who knows, you might actually be able to catch problems early if you do so!

When conventional medicine fails to provide a cure, many people end up turning to other options in order to find a way to get rid of their hemorrhoids and prevent it from ever returning. Some turn to herbal medications, others to various natural remedies… but honestly speaking, one of the easiest methods of dealing with hemorrhoids is something that is extremely commonplace: Bioflavonoids.

Over the last few years, it has been demonstrated that in some cases bioflavonoids are able to not only heal hemorrhoids completely, but they’re also able to stop them from ever returning. Needless to say, this is really quite remarkable as it presents a wide range of new options for anyone who is suffering from the debilitating pain and discomfort of hemorrhoids.

Do you know what bioflavonoids are though? Basically, bioflavonoids are simply a type of substance that is found in a wide range of plants and fruits. They’re sometimes even known as citrin or Vitamin P, and come in various different forms and types. Seeing as you’re interested in how they work as a cure, you don’t really need the complete biology lesson, but suffice to say they’re a pretty commonly found substance.

By eating fruits and vegetables (in particular those high with Vitamin C), you should be able to get enough bioflavonoids for your purposes. In fact, you’ll be doing yourself a double favor seeing as these types of foods are generally rich in fiber too — which will also further help with your hemorrhoids. Being as easily available as they are, you could start almost immediately!

As you consume more and more bioflavonoids, the walls of your blood vessels should strengthen. In particular, this applies to the walls of the blood vessels within your anus and rectum, which will then make them more resistant to the formation of hemorrhoids. Of course, this may not work for absolutely everyone, but its success rate thus far is certainly encouraging.

Simple as this remedy is, you should be aware that ideally it should be used in tandem with diet and lifestyle changes so that you’re able to ensure the best results. After all, there’s no point consuming good, healthy, and bioflavonoid-full food if you’re going to end up just getting hemorrhoids again because of your lifestyle, right?

Also, while bioflavonoids are good, they should be consumed as part and parcel of a healthy and balanced diet. Don’t substitute all your other necessary nutrients simply for bioflavonoids or you’ll find that despite your hemorrhoids perhaps getting better, you could be faced with an entire slew of other medical problems that need dealing with.

Keep this in mind, and be sure to make a strong effort to rid yourself of hemorrhoids forever!
